How to Be a Thinking Partner: Using Time To Think©

A webinar with Eve Turner on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, 6:30PM – 8PM SG/HK time.

In this webinar, Eve Turner will explore how we can be a thinking partner to another person, whether another coach, mentor, supervisor, leader or even our children! Time To Think©, an approach developed by Nancy Kline, puts uninterrupted, deep and quality listening at its heart. In fact, one of Nancy’s books is called “The Promise That Changes Everything: I Won’t Interrupt You.” The belief is that people do their best thinking when they know they will not be interrupted. So the listening partner (coach, mentor, supervisor, leader, parent…!) says as little as possible, and only at the invitation of the other person – the thinker. This allows the person being listened to, to think deeply knowing they won’t be interrupted. Participants will have an opportunity to try this approach out in pairs twice, and leave with it as way of listening with others that they can use individually and in groups.

3 Key Takeaways

  1. Participants will learn the framework of Time To Think© including the ten components which include attention, quality, ease and place.
  2. Participants will have a deep listening approach they can use in their private and professional lives to allow clients and even children to talk freely, knowing they won’t be interrupted.
  3. Participants will gain confidence in being able to stay “silent” and focus on the other person in a considered way.
