Gestalt Practice: A Conversation on the Pursuit of wHolism in Coaching

A webinar with Mary Ann Rainey, Ph.D. on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, 6:30PM – 8PM SG/HK time.

This interactive webinar invites coaches into a rich conversation on applying Gestalt perspectives in their work. Grounded in principles of holism, awareness, and relationship, the session explores how to attend to one’s presence, the client, and emerging dynamics in real time.

Participants will be introduced to core theory, concepts, and practice models developed at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland, which position coaching not simply as a method, but as a stance and mindset.

We will explore personal presence as a core coaching capability, grounding coaches in their ability to navigate the coaching engagement in agile and context-sensitive ways.

3 Key Takeaways

  1. Applying Holism in Practice: Gestalt’s holistic perspective supports the client’s movement toward fulfillment and completion as the coach attends to polarities, ambivalence, resistance, and the complex dynamics at play.
  2. Presence as a Coaching and Relational Capability: Understanding self as an instrument of change; cultivating trust; and the power of the coach making a difference with their presence.
  3. Working with What Is Emerging: Moving beyond models—delivering context-sensitive interventions that respond to the “here and now”.
