A webinar with Heather Frost, PCC on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, 7PM – 8:30PM SG/HK time.
How “I” understand “me” and make sense of “my” world and experience is a fundamental question for understanding human behaviour and agency. Yet, we don’t understand “self” the same way. Instead, Concept-of-Self, our subjective, individual, and introspective understanding of self can differ in three distinct ways and is understood on a spectrum: Stability-of-Self, Thoughts-of-Self, and Unity-of-Self. Individuals may understand the self as being the same over time (versus lacking psychological continuity), understand their thoughts as intrinsic to being me (versus pure mental events), or understand their self as united and one (versus Multiplicity-of-Self).
In this session, participants will be introduced to Concept-of-Self through a blend of content, personal reflection, experiential exercises with other coaches. Grounded in research and filled with practical client examples, this is a thought-provoking session that will challenge your assumptions and enhance your self-awareness of what it means to “be” a reflective practitioner.
3 Key Takeaways
- Understand the Concept-of-Self as a validated psychometric construct, learn about the three factors found in the Concept-of-Self Scale (CoSS) and explore how this relates to coaching.
- Build awareness of how the inner world of the client (beliefs and attitudes about themselves) can influence their outer world (beliefs in agency, meaning, free will and control) and how this might show up in your coaching practice.
- Understand your own Concept-of-Self and increase self-awareness of how this may influence the coaching relationship. Develop greater psychological mindedness in what shapes how you live your life, and how your client lives theirs.
