Jan O’Brien

Jan serves as President/Owner at Culture-Conscious International, Ltd, a company providing customized coaching and consulting services for clients who want to become culturally competent and self-confident in the global arena. Jan is a US/UK dual national and has lived and worked extensively overseas, with a focus in the US, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the South East Asia region. She has worked with clients from many language and cultural backgrounds and has personally experienced the benefits and challenges of relocating internationally. She is currently based in Houston, Texas. In the area of leadership development, Jan is a senior facilitator with Personal Leadership (PL) Seminars. She has also worked as a core instructor with the University of Houston Executive Coaching Institute where she conducted PL-based workshops on Coaching in a Multicultural Workplace. Jan is a Master Certified Coach with the International Association of Coaching (IAC) and a Certified Group Coach through the School of Coaching Mastery. She holds the Certificate in Intercultural Studies through the Centre for Intercultural Communication at the University of British Columbia. She is a certified facilitator of the Cultural Detective® system of culture-specific materials and tools, and a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory® (IDI®) Jan is an accredited associate for the ICS-CONNECT Communication Assessment and she is also a Deep Change certified administrator and coach for the SQ21 Spiritual Intelligence Assessment. Jan’s interests include travel, hiking, scuba diving and Asian arts, culture and cuisine. She is particularly passionate about exploring the multiple layers of culture, consciousness and leadership.
